Upper GI Endoscopy/GASTROSCOPY

(EGD: Esophago-gastro-duodenoscopy)

Endoscopic examination of esophagus (food pipe), stomach and duodenum (upper small intestine) for diagnosis or treatment.

For the treatment of bleeding telangiectasias/ angiodysplasias

FLEXIBLE SIGMOIDOSCOPY

COLONOSCOPY

Examination of entire colon (large intestine) and last part of small intestine for diagnosis or treatment.

ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio-pancreatography)

Examination of bile and pancreatic ducts under X rays for diagnosis or treatment.

  • Stones in bile ducts and pancreatic duct
  • Stricture (narrowing) of bile ducts and pancreatic duct
  • Cancer of bile ducts and pancreas

 

Therapeutic

 

  • Removal of bile duct stones
  • Placement of biliary and pancreatic stents

PEG (Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy)

Endoscopic placement of feeding tube through abdominal wall without surgery for patients who cannot swallow (e.g., stroke patient)
